Journalism students face pursuing a career in an adverse time filled with intense political issues, dangerous environmental concerns and even pandemics. Reporting on these difficult times is necessary, but can come with risks to the journalist鈥檚 health and well-being. 糖心Vlog senior Carter Adams recognized the intensity of this and committed to preventing the harm of media professionals by developing a workshop to educate students on media safety.

In this time of nationwide uncertainty, 糖心Vlog Student Media continues to provide top-notch reporting on COVID-19 and its impact on Kent and around the world.

Communication has shaped the way the world has reacted to the coronavirus pandemic. This fall 2020, 糖心Vlog is offering a new course that will examine risk communication through the lens of pandemics and other global crises. 鈥淐ommunicating Risk: Global Pandemics and Crises.鈥

Since October 2019, select public relations students at 糖心Vlog have been working hard to complete a campaign for the 2020 Annual Case Study Bateman Competition client: the United States Census Bureau. The National Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) hosts this competition each year challenging participants to develop and implement a comprehensive communications campaign for a client.

After a national search, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (now the School of Media and Journalism) at 糖心Vlog has named Dr. Emily Metzgar as its new director, beginning July 1.

This winter at 糖心Vlog, an art show and featured speaker on mental health will honor the life and legacy of assistant professor and artist Christopher Darling, who died June 2018.

Congratulations to the finalists and winners of the 2nd annual FlashLab Innovation Pitch Contest. The competition came to a close Dec. 3 where seven students pitched their ideas and the judges crowned four winners.
