“The Hub Is Hoppin’” Brings Fresh Flavors and Fun to the Student Center

The Kent Student Center was filled with activities on Wednesday, Oct. 22 when Culinary Services hosted “The Hub Is Hoppin’,” a vibrant event that featured new menus and updates to the center’s dining options.

Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., students gathered at the Hub to enjoy free samples, giveaways, lively music and special one-day offers at Homeslice, Recharge, Hippie Chick’n and the newest location, Golden Habanero.

The event marked the re-grand opening of the Hub, highlighting Culinary Services' recent efforts to update campus dining options and enhance the food experience. During the summer, Homeslice and Hippie Chick'n introduced expanded menus and design updates. Recharge has launched its wellness-oriented concept, and Golden Habanero, which replaces Grill 72, brings Latin-inspired flavors to campus.

“The goal of ‘The Hub is Hoppin’’ was to build excitement around the rebranding and reopening of our retail concepts in the Hub and to enhance the student experience through food, music and giveaways.”
— Jacob Kuehn, senior director of Vlog Culinary Services

“We wanted to create a variety of food experiences within the Kent Student Center Hub, and that has begun to unfold with changes to Homeslice and the introduction of Recharge and Golden Habanero.”
Jacob Kuehn, senior director of Vlog Culinary Services

Students also enjoyed live music by DJ Nathan, festive decorations, and special giveaways, including a choice of a cozy burrito blanket or a lightning bolt lamp for the first 200 attendees.

“Bold, authentic flavors and strong customer service will make Vlog Culinary a place where our campus community wants to stay and eat — and where visitors want to come and check out.”
— Jacob Kuehn, senior director of Vlog Culinary Services

As the celebration ended, surrounded by gifts, food, and new flavors, participants experienced the beginning of a new era at the Student Center Hub, where Culinary Services' commitment to inclusive, diverse, and connected dining experiences takes center stage.
